In the Garden
Harvest/Assist the Farmer’s Market- 3 hours
Bike/harvest the Farmer’s Market- 3 1/2 hours
We have two garden locations that are maintained by volunteers. Volunteer to grow food in our community plots for the Little Free Farmers Markets. Get your hands in the soil and learn with expert gardeners!
- Hosmer Garden-
- Volunteer days on Mondays from 6:00-7:00pm
- located at the corner of 36th street and 4th avenue
- Sabathani Garden-
- Volunteer days on Thursdays from 6:00-7:00pm
- located behind the Sabathani Community Center
Workshops
Make Raised Beds Workshop- 4 hours
Participate in our plant distribution event- 3 hours
Help install raised vegetable beds- 4 hours

Plant Grow Share Internship Program
Join our dynamic and growing Internship Program!
PLANT-GROW-SHARE interns are an essential part of our work to cultivate community through sustainable urban agriculture. We offer hands-on, engaging, real-world experiences in a fun and welcoming work environment. Our interns have a strong desire to learn and work hard while maintaining a positive attitude throughout their commitment.
Internship Programs: No stipend provided. We can work with your school if they have a for credit or paid internship program.
We’re hiring for the following 2018 internships. There are Spring, Summer and Fall Opportunities. Our program re-starts on February 2018. But all applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Contact Program Coordinator to learn more about our different opportunities, and how we can adapt the your internship (depending on your available hours, length of internship, your skills, and learning needs) to the needs of Plant-Grow Share.

Spring Urban Farming Education Intern (5-15 hours per week, February 15st – May 31st) Spring UFE Interns gain experience teaching and engaging PGS participants and people in the community with hands on workshops, classes, and skill shares.Programs including in-classroom teaching, starting and maintaining the seed starting station, & Coordinating and running the Plant Distribution Event, assisting in the creation of educational materials such as Natural Pest Control, Weed Identification, & Soil Enrichment.
Summer Urban Farming Education Intern (5-15 hours per week, May 15th – August 15th) Fall UFE Interns gain experience teaching and engaging our PGS participants and people in the community with hands on workshops, classes, and skill shares.Programs including on-farm and in-classroom teaching. Assisting on vegetable garden design, assisting in the creation of educational materials such as Natural Pest Control, Weed Identification, & Soil Enrichment.
Fall Urban Farming Education Intern (5-15 hours per week, September 1 – October 15) Fall UFE Interns gain experience teaching and engaging our PGS participants and people in the community with hands on workshops, classes, and skill shares.Programs including on-urban farm and in-classroom teaching. Assisting in workshops such as Harvesting 101, Food Preservation Workshops and Skillshares, and Putting the Garden to Bed .
- Mindfulness in the Garden Internship.
Summer Mindfulness In the Garden Intern. Interns gain experience engaging PGS participant and people in the community in Horticultural Therapy practices. Help develop a brand new part of the program, where we strive to incorporate mindfulness practices while learning to grow food, growing food while growing personally.
- Plant-Grow-Share Program Operations, Marketing & Outreach
Non-Profit Operations, Marketing & Outreach. (10-20 hrs/wk Spring Session February 15- May 31, 2018) or (10-20hrs/wk Summer Session May 15- August 15, 2018)
Gain experience with program registration, community engagement (through culturally relevant marketing), event logistics, and behind the scenes support for our Plant-Grow-Share program.
- Little Free Farmers Market Program Operation
LFFM Operations Intern (6-12 hrs/wk, May 15 –September 25, 2018)
LFFM intern will gain experience in co-managing and cultivating our small, organic vegetable Plot while learning skills in community leadership and diverse community engagement.
