Who is Plant-Grow-Share (PGS)?

Plant-Grow-Share is a group of neighbors who believe that all people deserve the right to access and ownership of healthy and culturally appropriate food. We ground our work in antiracism, decentralized power, deep relationships and personal growth.

Who do you serve?

Plant-Grow-Share prioritizes Black, Indigenous, Latine and people of color, along with low-income white folks. Our service area is the Central and Bryant neighborhoods (From 35W to Chicago Avenue, and Lake Street to 42nd Street.

Where are you Located?

Plant-Grow-Share is a program within the Central Area Neighborhood Development Organization (CANDO). Our offices are located within Sabathani Community Center at 310 East 38th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55409

    Mentorship

    Help beyond monthly classes can help your garden succeed. Plant-Grow-Share offers one-on-one mentorship for first-time growers.

  • Plant-Grow-Share is proud to present the Minneapolis Urban Farm Academy!

    This program will be led by and focus on Black, Indigenous and People of color living in Minneapolis with at least 1 years seasonal experience in growing food. Applications will be accepted until February 11th, 2024. To apply, visit linktr.ee/centralmpls

    Topics covered include Business Planning for Urban Farmers, Farm Food Safety & FSMA, Sustainable Agriculture (including no-till farming), Value Added Produce, Farmers Markets and Production Contracts.

    Commitments & Benefits

    Between March and November, students/student teams will attend one 2-hour long class. Farming students will be provided with seeds, space to start their own seedlings indoors, space to grow food and shared space in a farmers market stall to sell that produce. Students are recommended to maintain a personal commitment of 2-5 hours a week of their personal time to manage their farm plot during the growing season.

    Program Cost, Payment Arrangements & Options

    Farming students can expect to pay $550 - per farm team - for the entire year, due April 1st, 2024. We can work with people experiencing financial hardship.

    While we do not have scholarships available, we are accepting applications for payment-in-kind, or an agreement where a farm team provides work or 22 volunteer hours in exchange for covering the program cost throughout the year.   • In partnership with the Hosmer Branch of Hennepin County Library, Plant-Grow-Share established a Community Seed Library.

    This seed library is located across from the front desk and free to use. You will find a collection of pesticide-free seeds of various types (food, flowers, herbs, etc).

    Hosmer Library is located at the intersection of 36th Street East and 4th Avenue South (347 E. 36th St., Minneapolis , MN 55408).
