31st St E, Blaisdell Ave to Bloomington Ave
The City will rebuild about one mile of 31st Street East (MSA Route 366) between Blaisdell Ave. and Bloomington Ave. South.

35th & 36th Street, Blaisdell Avenue to Chicago Avenue
The City will reconstruct about 1.6 miles of 35th Street and 36th Street. This work will happen between Blaisdell Ave and Chicago Ave S. Contact Project Engineer alebel.mehari@minneapolismn.gov

The City will reconstruct approximately 1.1 miles of 38th St E between 10th Ave S and 23rd Ave S.

Chicago Ave, Lake Street to 37th Street
The City will rebuild about 0.85 miles of Chicago Ave S, from Lake Street to 37th Street E.

Hennepin County Housing and Redevelopment Authority approves $2 million for Small Business Recovery Fund. To be eligible for the grants, a business must be a locally owned, for-profit business with a physical establishment in Hennepin County that experienced significant loss in revenue during the period from December 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026, due to recent immigration enforcement actions.

Are you planning to grow food this year? Make sure your soil is safe before you grow! We’re especially encouraging neighbors who are growing for the first time to join us to talk about how to get your soil tested. Neighbors who have garden spaces that may have been exposed to chemical weapons or tear gas may be eligible to have their soil tested at low or no cost. Recap of Black History Month in the Central Neighborhood with CANDO

In early February, CANDO joined Ace Rice of **PLOT Gallery** to celebrate Black history month! Ace spoke about his family legacy in the neighborhood and highlighted several key places in the neighborhood that will be lifted up for The Central Neighborhood Preservation & Walking Tour: an initiative designed to document, celebrate, and memorialize the cultural history of South Minneapolis, with a focus on the East 38th Street corridor. We collaborated with Dwight & **Smoke in the Pit** on 40 free meals for the community!

KingDemetrius Pendleton of Listen2Us Studio hosted a conversation and showing of “Half-Past Autumn” a documentary on Gordon Parks, with Director Craig Laurence Rice alongside a showcase of photos of Fred Hampton.

La Autoridad de Vivienda y Reurbanización del Condado de Hennepin aprueba 2 millones de dólares para el Fondo de Recuperación de Pequeñas Empresas. Para poder optar a las subvenciones, la empresa debe ser una empresa local con ánimo de lucro que tenga un local físico en el condado de Hennepin y que haya sufrido una pérdida significativa de ingresos durante el periodo comprendido entre el 1 de diciembre de 2025 y el 28 de febrero de 2026, debido a las recientes medidas de control de inmigración.

A principios de febrero, CANDO se unió a Ace Rice, de PLOT Gallery, para celebrar el Mes de la Historia Afroamericana. Ace habló sobre el legado de su familia en el barrio y destacó varios lugares clave de la zona que se pondrán de relieve en el marco de la Iniciativa para la Conservación del Barrio Central y el Recorrido a Pie: una iniciativa diseñada para documentar, celebrar y conmemorar la historia cultural del sur de Minneapolis, centrándose en el corredor de la calle 38 Este.
